My Story

One of my earliest childhood memories is of being allowed to choose the colour scheme for my bedroom.  I spent ages looking through wallpaper books before eventually deciding on one with a white background and tiny, pretty yellow and blue flowers - I loved it. When I got married my husband and I bought a Victorian end of terrace in South East London. It could quaintly be described as a “doer upper”. It had woodworm and damp, leaking roof and dated wiring. There was no heating or fitted kitchen and the only loo was outside. What a great opportunity to begin my love of all things colour. We were newly married and it was our first home together. We lived there for 3 very happy years and the house was completely transformed by the time we moved out.

This house was a great starting point for me. It was literally in at the deep end. It ignited my passion for interiors and colour. I discovered that I loved the process of transforming this dilapidated, unloved house into a happy home. I also discovered that I was very good at it. Every house we moved to, I learnt a little bit more. It was when our youngest child started school that I decided to change my career. I studied for a City & Guilds interior decor qualification and passed with distinction. Then I joined paint and wallpaper specialists Farrow & Ball and for 7 years helped create beautiful colour schemes for every individual customer.

In 2018 I set up Tickled Pink Interiors to share my knowledge gained over the years. As a colour consultant my job is all about colour. I visit my customers in their homes, often when they are completely overwhelmed by the choices available, and help them to create beautiful paint colour schemes. I see myself as a little oasis of calm, taking the pressure off, inspiring colour confidence and making the whole colour choosing experience happy and enjoyable, which is exactly what it should be.

There is so much more to choosing paint colours than just picking a sample pot from a colour chart.
